An incident related to Redmi 6A Blast News in Redmi 6A smartphone is going viral on social media. In a video shared on YouTube by MD Talk YT, the YouTuber claims that his aunt was killed by the exploding Redmi 6A smartphone while she was sleeping with the phone beside her. Following the incident, Xiaomi issued a statement saying that it is working to reach out to the affected families and investigate the situation. This is not the first instance of a smartphone explosion or fire related incident that we have seen in recent times. In the past few years, there have been many cases of accidents and injuries due to fire or explosion of smartphones. To help you stay safe, here is a list of 5 big reasons why smartphones catch fire.

Be careful if you use your phone while charging

Manufacturers always recommend charging the smartphone using the original adapter and cable. The cables and adapters that come with the smartphone or the ones adapted to the device power it accordingly so that it doesn't harm the battery. Using a third party product to charge the smartphone may cause the battery to overheat and short circuit.

2. Excessive use of smartphone with broken body

Using a bad smartphone can damage mechanical or chemical components in the device. Continuous use can create an imbalance in the chemicals in the smartphone which can lead to overheating, short-circuit and some other causes of fire.

3. Excessive use of smartphone

Smartphones can easily heat up after excessive gaming and multi-tasking. The ability to handle extreme usage depends on the chipset powering the smartphone. Although manufacturers introduce several cooling mechanisms to prevent the processor from overheating, using the smartphone for long periods of time without any lag should be avoided.

4. Using the Smartphone While Charging or Charging Overnight

Charging overnight or using a smartphone while charging can lead to overheating and as mentioned earlier, overheating is one of the primary reasons due to which smartphones explode and catch fire. Overnight noise can also damage the battery in the long run resulting in explosion due to short-circuit.

5. Keeping the smartphone in high temperature

You should not expose your smartphone to high temperatures for a long time. Leaving the phone in direct sunlight or in a car off for long periods of time can cause it to heat up, destabilizing the cells in the battery and producing gases like carbon dioxide and oxygen. This can cause blast in the smartphone.
