Instagram launches broadcast channels for creators, know how it will work
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced a 'broadcast channel' on Instagram. Broadcast channels are channels like Telegram that allow you to share important information with your followers.
Meta is currently testing this feature with select creators in the US and will be rolling it out to everyone soon. Subsequently, the channel will also gain access to other Meta-owned apps such as Facebook and Messenger.
Instagram broadcast channels are nothing but Telegram channels
Let us tell you that Meta announced the new broadcast channel for Instagram on Thursday through a blog post. Broadcast channels are for creators and accounts who want to share information with their followers.
Mark Zuckerberg himself created a channel on Instagram to demo it. Instagram broadcast channels let you share information in text, photos, videos, and even voice notes. People who are connected to the channel can provide feedback on the information shared.
Instagram slightly different from Telegram
In addition, the 'Broadcast Channel' creator can also post polls where people can vote. This would be helpful, for example, to singers or bands who want to select the next city for their concert. It looks exactly like a Telegram channel. Although, slightly different from Telegram, Instagram is a social media app.
Notification will be received on creating a new channel
On Instagram, if you follow a creator and they start their first channel, you'll get a one-time notification that lets you join their channel. Then, you can join the channel to get all the updates.
You don't have to join the channel if you don't want to, but you won't get any updates from the creators in the channel and you can't provide feedback on the information shared.
